Heckler & Koch P30 is a semi- automatic pistol with polymer frame firstly introduced in 2006. It represents a modern police pistol and is can be used as self-defense weapon for civilian use. The pistol is basically an updated version of the P2000; the difference is in exterior appearance and ergonomics. The first prototypes of the P30 were recognized as the P3000. The P30 is available in 9 mm Parabellum and . 40 S&W chambers. The pistol is a suitable for both right- and left-handed shooters with a modified Browning-type action and a vertically tilting barrel.
The overall length of the pistol is 7.1”, with a barrel length of 3.9" and weights 647 g. It shares a modular design with the P2000, having both exchangeable grips and backstraps to meet individual needs. The P30 pistols have an automatic hammer safety and firing pin safety, optionally with a de-cocker too. The standard Picatinny rail is formed in the gun’s dust cover allowing assembling of tactical lights, laser sights and other accessories. The P30 has iron sights consisting of a square notch rear sight. The sight is characteristic with a three-dot contrast improvement. A special feature of this model is that a lot of trigger variations are available, making it suitable for a variety of users. Several variants are available depending on what mechanism is used, whether the LEM (Law Enforcement Modification) trigger mechanism or a SA/DA trigger, such as P30L, P30S and P30LS.
